Maintenance Handyperson

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance / Handyman to join our team at Mantra Nelson Bay. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the property and ensuring all facilities are in excellent working order. This is an ideal position for someone with a proactive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for ensuring that all aspects of the resort are well-maintained and safe.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs across the resort, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with guest rooms, public areas, and resort facilities
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure all equipment and systems (HVAC, lighting, plumbing, etc.) are functioning properly
  • Assist with emergency repairs and respond to maintenance requests promptly
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in maintenance areas
  • Ensure all safety and compliance procedures are followed for resort maintenance
  • Support the team with preventative maintenance tasks to minimize downtime
  • Assist with the setup of events or any special requirements for guests when needed
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Ensure the resort meets all health and safety standards and regulations

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a handyman or in a maintenance role, preferably in a hotel or resort environment
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks
  • Ability to use maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with other departments
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a strong commitment to quality
  • Excellent computer skills in the Office Suite
